There are certain attributes that are put especially on the youth to fit in the twenty first century. Being computer literate is one the most important of them all, manipulation of software and browsing the Internet are other important factors to be associated with the individual in the digital era. Owning a smart phone, laptop or a tablet are other of the least expectations in the 'technology filled era.'
'Mother's love'
The characteristics that a generation identifies with, however, may not
be the characteristics that others believe that generation identifies
with. One of the most enjoyable challenges of working with youth is keeping
afresh on developments in popular culture and media trends. Having a
comprehensive understanding of what’s trending with youth can help
tremendously in creating winning programs and outreach services and in
developing a cross-media library collection.Whether it is books, films, music, or video games, there is always something new and buzz-worthy to get excited about.
Technology in the classroom
The youth through the government are advocates for appropriate technology. Appropriate technology is technology that can be applied to 90% of the
population in developing countries and can be used to research, document
and disseminate information about the most basic problems for people
living in these countries. Appropriate technology is human centered and
human scaled, easily replicable, focuses on locally available resources
and is labor intensive but energy efficient. When we use the term
“Appropriate Technology” we are referring to mobile phones, the Internet
and community radio.
In education, the Internet has availed online courses to ease mobility and financial constraints for those with a passion for formal education.
The success of using technology by the youth can best be told by the famous story of Mark Zuckerbag.
